Indian Warrior (Pedicularis densiflora, Scrophulariaceae)
The <b>Indian Warrior</b> (<i>Pedicularis densiflora</i>) flowers in the <i>Scrophulariaceae</i> plant family are still going strong on the burned ground of the Gap Wildfire two years ago. This plant is a partial root-parasite of several different chaparral shrubs, probably <b>Chamise</b> (<i>Adenostoma fasciculatum</i>) in this place. (San Marcos Pass, 12 March 2010)

MYKOLOGOS is a group site for photos of mushrooms, fungi, molds, lichens, slime molds, bacterial mats, algae - all those non-flowering plants that don`t follow the usual rules. I figure ferns are marginal unless they show their sporangia.
